Helldivers 2 Warhammer 40K Warbond Lands August 12
Arrowhead revealed the Castellan's Creed Legendary Warbond on July 30: Bolt Pistol, Meltagun, and Kasrkin-inspired armor arriving August 12.
Cadia Stands, and So Do the Helldivers
Arrowhead Game Studios pulled the covers off the long-teased Warhammer 40,000 crossover on July 30, 2026, and it is called the Castellan's Creed Legendary Warbond. It lands in Helldivers 2 on August 12, 2026 across PC, PS5, and Xbox — and yes, the Bolt Pistol made it in. So did a Meltagun. If you have spent any time with either franchise, you already know why that particular pairing is such a clean fit.
- Castellan's Creed Legendary Warbond arrives August 12, 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox
- Weapons: R/40-K Hot-Shot Marksman Rifle, P/40-K Bolt Pistol, the 40-K Meltagun stratagem, and the G/40-K Meltamine proximity mine
- Two armor sets — TG-8 Sharpshooter (medium) and TG-122 Demo-Trooper (heavy) — each with a passive granting +20 weapon handling and 30% faster support weapon reloads
- Cosmetics: Camo Cloak and City Fighter's Resolve capes, the "Still Standing" title, and Castellan's Green camo; Legendary Warbonds have previously run 1,500 Super Credits rather than the usual 1,000
Why This Crossover Works Better Than Most
Because the two universes were already speaking the same language. Helldivers has always run on cheerful, oblivious militarism — a democracy so managed that the propaganda has propaganda — and Warhammer 40,000's Imperium of Man is the definitive version of that joke, told with a completely straight face for forty years. Putting a Cadian Kasrkin kit into Super Earth's arsenal does not require either side to bend.
The framing Arrowhead chose leans into it. The Warbond honors Cadian Kasrkin units, the Imperial Guard's elite storm troopers, while in-fiction it commemorates Helldivers who defended the planet Chara during the First Galactic War. Two sets of grim, doomed, extremely enthusiastic soldiers saluting each other across a genre gap. That is good crossover writing.
What Do the Armor Passives Actually Do?
More than they look like. The shared passive on both TG-8 Sharpshooter and TG-122 Demo-Trooper grants 20 units of weapon handling and cuts support weapon reload time by 30% — and that second number is the one that will change how people play.
Support weapon reloads in Helldivers 2 are deliberately punishing. Dropping a Recoilless or an Autocannon reload in the wrong moment is how squads die, and the whole risk calculus of heavy weapons is built around that vulnerability window. Shaving 30% off it does not remove the risk, but it meaningfully shifts which weapons feel viable solo versus which ones really want a teammate feeding you. Expect the loadout discourse to be lively.
Is a Legendary Warbond Worth the Premium?
The usual caveat applies: Arrowhead has not formally confirmed pricing at the time of writing. But both previous Legendary Warbonds — the Halo: ODST and Killzone collaborations — ran 1,500 Super Credits against the 1,000 that standard Warbonds cost, and there is no signal this one differs. At the standard PlayStation Store rate of 1,000 Super Credits for $9.99, that puts it somewhere around $15.
Worth noting for anyone who dislikes paying: Super Credits drop in-mission, and patient players have been buying Warbonds without spending real money since launch. The Warbond itself does not expire, so there is no pressure to rush it.
Another Good Month for Crossovers
Helldivers 2 has quietly become one of the better homes for this kind of collaboration, largely because its tone survives contact with other franchises intact. Our gaming coverage has watched a strong summer for co-op shooters generally, from Halo: Campaign Evolved arriving on Game Pass day one to Mistfall Hunter's extraction RPG launch yesterday.
August 12 is two weeks out. Time enough to stockpile Super Credits, argue about whether the Meltagun stratagem will actually beat a Recoilless against heavies, and get suitably enthusiastic about a rifle with a hyphen in its name.
