PS5 Prism Collection: Transparent DualSense Price and Date
Sony's PS5 Prism Collection brings transparent DualSense controllers for $84.99 and console covers for $74.99, with pre-orders opening November 10.
Clear plastic is back, and it looks fantastic. On October 28, 2026, Sony announced the Prism Collection, a trio of transparent DualSense wireless controllers and matching PS5 console covers. If you ever owned a see-through Game Boy or a clear 90s controller, this one is aimed squarely at your nostalgia, with a modern glossy twist.
- Colors: Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray, each with a transparent finish
- Pricing: DualSense controllers cost $84.99 (£74.99 / €84.99) and console covers cost $74.99 (£64.99 / €74.99)
- Pre-orders: open November 10, 2026
- Release date: February 4, 2027
What Does the PS5 Prism Collection Look Like?
According to the PlayStation Blog, each Prism Collection piece gets a premium high-gloss clear finish that shows off the internals of the DualSense controller. Designer Satoshi Aoyagi from Sony's Color, Material and Finish team explained that the clear finish wraps across the back of the controller, while a metallic middle cover ties the transparent surfaces together.
The three colors each behave a little differently under light:
- Flare Orange is vibrant and, per Sony, takes on a rosy hue where the transparent layers overlap
- Emerald Green is described as a deep hunter green that gains depth through the transparency
- Graphite Gray is a cool-toned storm gray for players who want something subtler
Designer Leo Cardoso said the team wanted to bring back the see-through trend of the late 90s in a way that suits the PS5's industrial design. Honestly? Mission accomplished. Clear accessories are one of those rare trends that feel playful and premium at the same time.
When Can You Pre-Order the Transparent DualSense?
Mark November 10 on your calendar for pre-orders, with the full launch landing on February 4, 2027, as confirmed by both the PlayStation Blog and VGC. The covers let you match your console to your controller, so a full Emerald Green setup is very much on the table.
The pricing sits above the standard DualSense, which is typical for special editions. VGC lists the Prism controllers at $84.99, compared with special-edition releases we have seen this year like the DualSense Lisa limited edition.
Why Transparent Controllers Still Win Hearts
Part of the appeal is simple curiosity: people love seeing how their gear works. Transparent shells turn a controller into a little piece of industrial art, and in a living room full of matte black boxes, a glowing orange controller is a conversation starter. It is also a nice sign that Sony keeps investing in cosmetic variety deep into the PS5 generation, giving players more ways to personalize their setup.
Whether you are Team Orange, Team Green or Team Gray, this is a fun one to plan your holiday wish list around, even if the controllers themselves arrive in early 2027. For more hardware and release news, check out our gaming coverage.
