PlayStation Plus Essential members get three new games on Tuesday, October 6, 2026: F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2. It is a lineup with something for racing fans, extraction-shooter diehards and anyone who loves swatting giant bugs with friends, and all three can be claimed for free at no extra cost to PS Plus subscribers.

• Claim window: Tuesday, October 6 through Monday, November 2, 2026.
• F1 25 and Hunt: Showdown 1896 are PS5 games; Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is on PS5 and PS4.
• September's games, Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life and Chained Echoes, can be claimed until October 5.
• Once claimed, games stay in your library as long as you remain a PS Plus member.

What Is F1 25?

F1 25 is the official Formula One racing game for the 2025 season, with career modes and multiplayer racing. PlayStation highlights F1 World, which includes a new multiplayer mode where you and your friends race as a squad against AI drivers. If you have wanted a reason to try a serious racing sim without paying full price, this is it. It is a good companion to the cheerful, racing-friendly vibe of recent Steam Autumn Sale deals.

What Is Hunt: Showdown 1896?

Hunt: Showdown 1896 is described by PlayStation as a new era of the extraction shooter, where hunters track monsters and compete against other hunters in corrupted environments. You can play solo or team up with up to three hunters, so it works for lone wolves and for a trio of friends. It is tense and demanding by design, so expect a learning curve.

What Is Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2?

This squad-based action game pairs voxel-style graphics with enormous enemies on a square Earth. It supports four-player online co-op and two-player local split-screen, which makes it the easiest of the three to play with a friend on the couch. It is available on both PS5 and PS4.

Which Free PS Plus Game Should You Claim First?

If you have friends who love silly cooperative action, start with Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2. If you follow motorsport and want a full-featured racer, F1 25 is the obvious pick. If you like high-stakes tension and are ready to learn, Hunt: Showdown 1896 is the deepest of the trio. Since all three are free during the claim window, the real answer is to claim all of them before November 2 and play what suits your mood.

PlayStation has also lined up bonus content for the month, including Spider-Man: Brand New Day avatars and horror-themed item bundles, according to coverage of the announcement.
