Geniatech has launched the XPI-3576-CM5, a 55 x 40 mm system-on-module that mates with existing Raspberry Pi CM4 and CM5 carrier boards through two 100-pin board-to-board connectors. The interesting part is not just the silicon - it is that a Rockchip RK3576 with a 6 TOPS NPU now arrives in a footprint that thousands of already-designed baseboards can accept. For anyone building edge AI products in the mini computers space, that is a meaningful shortcut.

What Is Inside the XPI-3576-CM5?
The RK3576 runs an eight-core big.LITTLE arrangement: four Cortex-A72 cores clocked to 2.2 GHz for throughput work and four Cortex-A53 cores to 1.8 GHz for background and housekeeping tasks. Graphics come from a Mali-G52 MC3 at 1 GHz with OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0, and Vulkan 1.1 drivers, which is enough for camera pipelines, kiosk UIs, and light compute offload.
The headline block is the 6 TOPS NPU. Its format list is broad for this class of part - INT4, INT8, INT16, BF16, and TF32 - so quantized vision models and smaller language models both have a sensible landing spot rather than everything being forced into a single precision.
Wireless is handled by an Ampak AP6275S module delivering dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 with external antenna connections. Wired networking uses a Realtek RTL8211F gigabit PHY, and power sequencing runs through a Rockchip RK806S-5 PMIC.
Which Interfaces Does the Module Expose?
Across the two 100-pin connectors, the XPI-3576-CM5 brings out USB 3.0, USB 2.0 OTG, PCIe Gen2 x1, a 4-lane MIPI DSI output, a 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 camera input, CAN bus, and up to 28 GPIO. CAN alongside PCIe is a combination that shows where Geniatech is aiming: vehicle gateways, factory controllers, and instrumentation, reinforced by the -20C to +85C industrial temperature rating.
One detail worth planning around: the module is compatible with the CM5 form factor rather than feature-identical to it. It provides a single HDMI output and one MIPI CSI interface, where the CM5 offers dual. If your carrier design leans on the second display or second camera path, check the pin map before committing.
Why Does the Software Stack Matter Here?
Geniatech ships Android 14, Debian 12, and an adapted Raspberry Pi OS build, so teams can start from whichever base matches their product. That is a solid starting point, but the more consequential change happened upstream: RK3576 NPU support recently landed in mainline Linux through the Rocket driver, which means accelerator access is moving toward a maintained, open path rather than a vendor kernel fork.
Put those two things together and the story sharpens. An open toolchain plus a drop-in mechanical standard is what turns a chip into a platform. Compare that with the higher end of the market, where modules like the Jetson T3000 edge AI family target much larger power and price envelopes; the RK3576 class sits comfortably below them for always-on, fanless workloads.
What This Means for the CM5 Ecosystem
The CM4 and CM5 connector layout has quietly become a de facto socket standard. Carrier boards, enclosures, and thermal solutions already exist in volume, and every module that adopts the footprint makes that inventory more useful. The XPI-3576-CM5 is the first RK3576 NPU module to plug straight into it, which gives integrators a way to add on-device inference to a shipping design without respinning the baseboard.
Pricing has not been disclosed publicly - the module is being offered through OEM and ODM evaluation programs. For builders sizing up on-device inference options, this one is worth adding to the shortlist and watching as availability broadens.
