Real-Time Networking in a Palm-Sized Board

The affordable single-board computer landscape keeps widening, and the DEBIX T62P-01 pushes it toward serious industrial work. This is a compact 88x59 mm industrial SBC built around the TI Sitara AM62P, and it is aimed squarely at robotics, edge computing, and factory-floor deployments where a hobby board would not survive.

What makes the AM62P interesting is its split personality. It carries a quad-core Cortex-A53 cluster running up to 1.4 GHz for your Linux workloads, alongside dual Cortex-R5F real-time cores. That means one chip can run a full Linux user interface and a deterministic control loop at the same time, without bolting on a separate microcontroller.

Compute, Memory, and Storage Options

The application cores handle the heavy lifting: Linux, Android, or a Human-Machine Interface all run comfortably on the A53 quad. The R5F cores take the time-critical duties, the motor commands and sensor sampling that cannot tolerate an operating system scheduler getting in the way.

On the memory side, the T62P-01 scales up to 8GB of LPDDR4, which is generous for an industrial edge board and leaves room for on-device inference or a rich HMI. Optional onboard eMMC gives you soldered-down, vibration-proof storage that beats a removable card in any environment with a motor attached.

Networking Built for the Factory Floor

The networking is where this board makes its case. You get dual Gigabit Ethernet with TSN, or time-sensitive networking. TSN adds deterministic, low-jitter delivery over standard Ethernet, which is exactly what synchronized robotics and industrial control buses demand.

Wireless and Security

Wireless is current-generation: Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, so the board is ready for dense, congested RF environments rather than the crowded 2.4 GHz spectrum older SBCs settle for.

Security is treated as a first-class feature, not an afterthought. The T62P-01 supports secure boot, a TEE (trusted execution environment), and an HSM (hardware security module). For any connected industrial IoT deployment, that chain of trust is what lets you ship a device you can actually update and defend in the field.

Software: Linux, Android, and FreeRTOS

The software story matches the hardware ambition. The board runs Linux and Android on the application cores and FreeRTOS on the real-time cores, so a single design can span a touchscreen HMI, an edge-AI gateway, and a hard real-time controller depending on how you partition the SoC.

Where the T62P-01 Fits

The DEBIX T62P-01 targets industrial IoT, robotics, edge computing, and HMI panels, and it hits those marks with a rare combination of real-time cores, TSN networking, and a hardware root of trust. For makers and integrators who have outgrown consumer boards but want to keep costs sane, this AM62P industrial SBC expands the capable edge-computing ecosystem in a genuinely useful direction.
