CFB Oracle: CF Benchmarks Index Prices Arrive Onchain
CFB Oracle brings CF Benchmarks indices, used by products worth over $120B, onchain on Ethereum, HyperEVM and Robinhood Chain with signed prices.
Decentralized finance runs on prices. A lending app needs to know what collateral is worth, and a perpetual futures market needs a fair mark price to settle against. CF Benchmarks, whose indices sit behind BlackRock's bitcoin ETF and CME Group's crypto futures, is now bringing that same pricing data directly onchain. Its new service, CFB Oracle, was reported by CoinDesk on October 27, 2026.
- Scale: CF Benchmarks says its indices are used by products representing more than $120 billion in assets
- Live chains: the pull model is available on Ethereum, HyperEVM and Robinhood Chain, and the verifier can be deployed on other EVM-compatible chains
- Verifiable data: every value is digitally signed by CF Benchmarks, and each index is published at the same frequency for all customers
- Coverage: crypto (800+ assets), 24/7 equities, commodities, GPU compute rental, FX and pre-IPO indices
What Is CFB Oracle?
A blockchain oracle delivers outside data, like an asset price, to smart contracts that cannot fetch it themselves. If the concept is new to you, our guide to blockchain oracles walks through the basics. CFB Oracle's pitch is pedigree: developers get the same benchmark construction already trusted for regulated futures, ETFs and prediction markets, without building their own pricing system.
According to CF Benchmarks, its index values are referenced by CME Group crypto futures and options, BlackRock's IBIT bitcoin ETF and ETHA ether ETF, and Kalshi's prediction markets. The company also lists market makers including Galaxy, FalconX, Cumberland, B2C2 and Marex among firms it works with, which it says can support tighter spreads around markets that settle against its indices.
How Does CFB Oracle Deliver Prices Onchain?
The process has three steps, as CF Benchmarks describes it: prices from eligible venues and data providers flow into a calculation engine, which aggregates them using a published methodology, and the resulting index value is signed and delivered by API to the application, which can verify the signature. The company's tagline for the idea is "Don't trust. Verify."
Today the service uses a pull model, in which applications request a signed price when they need one. A push model, where updates are posted to the chain automatically, is in development. CoinDesk notes CF Benchmarks will not issue funds or handle trades; its role is purely to supply reference prices.
What Can Developers Build With It?
CF Benchmarks lists several use cases:
- Perpetual futures: continuous, manipulation-resistant mark prices for margin and liquidation
- Lending and borrowing: collateral valuation for crypto and tokenized assets
- Prediction markets and options: settlement against a published methodology
- Vaults and structured products: valuation and rebalancing for tokenized baskets
The broader asset menu stands out, especially GPU compute rental indices tracking H100 prices and pre-IPO valuation indices. CoinDesk adds that CF Benchmarks' parent company, Payward, plans to use CFB Oracle for a forthcoming Hyperliquid-powered US perpetual futures venue, which remains subject to regulatory approval.
Why It Matters for Tokenization
As more traditional assets move onchain, from tokenized funds to stocks, the data feeding those products has to meet institutional standards. CFB Oracle joins established providers like Chainlink and Pyth, and it follows earlier moves to bring traditional market data onchain, such as Nasdaq TotalView data via Pyth. More choice of high-quality, verifiable prices is good news for every builder in the space. Follow more blockchain infrastructure stories in our crypto coverage.
