Not every mini PC lives on a desk. Some get bolted inside a cabinet on a factory floor, a retail kiosk or a roadside enclosure, and those jobs want very different specs. The BIOSTAR EdgeComp MS-U320, announced on October 29, 2026, is built for exactly that world: a fanless industrial mini PC on Intel's Wildcat Lake platform with four serial ports, two 2.5GbE jacks and room for a 5G modem.

  • Processor: Intel Core 5 320 (Wildcat Lake), with CNX Software also listing a Core 3 304 option; BIOSTAR quotes up to 40 TOPS of AI performance.
  • I/O: four COM ports (two RS232, two RS232/422/485), dual 2.5GbE, two USB 3.2 Gen2 and four USB 2.0 ports.
  • Expansion: M.2 slots for NVMe storage, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and 4G LTE or 5G with a SIM slot.
  • Rugged specs: 9-24V DC input, -20°C to 50°C operation, and a 167 x 135 x 60mm fanless chassis.

What Is Inside the EdgeComp MS-U320?

CNX Software's spec breakdown lists two Wildcat Lake options. The Core 5 320 pairs two Performance cores boosting to 4.6GHz with four low-power efficiency cores, a two-core Intel Xe3 GPU and a 16 TOPS NPU. The Core 3 304 trims that to one P-core and a single-core GPU. BIOSTAR's own announcement highlights the Core 5 320 and an up-to-40 TOPS combined AI figure across CPU, GPU and NPU, which is plenty for light vision inference such as counting parts or reading gauges on a production line.

Memory tops out at 64GB of DDR5-6400 in a single SO-DIMM slot, and storage goes on an M.2 2242 or 2280 NVMe drive over PCIe Gen4 x2. Displays connect through HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4, both capable of 4K at 60Hz, with support for two independent screens.

Why Do Four COM Ports Matter on a Mini PC?

Serial ports sound old-fashioned, but industrial gear still speaks RS232 and RS485: PLCs, barcode scanners, scales, motor drives and sensor networks. Many consumer mini PCs offer none, which forces integrators to add USB-to-serial adapters that become one more thing to fail. CNX Software points out that the MS-U320 handles three or four serial devices out of the box, which sets it apart from other fanless Wildcat Lake boxes. Two of its four ports support RS422 and RS485 for longer cable runs and multi-drop buses.

The dual 2.5GbE ports use Intel I226-V and I226-LM controllers, so one port can face the plant network while the other talks to a machine segment. Add the optional cellular modem and the box can report back to the cloud from sites with no wired internet at all.

How Does It Compare With Other Wildcat Lake Mini PCs?

Wildcat Lake has been a busy platform this year, from compact desktop boxes like the ASRock NUC 300 to slim signage players like the Giada DK320. The MS-U320 trades their sleek looks for a 1.2kg finned chassis, a lockable DC jack and optional DIN rail, wall or VESA mounting. CNX also notes it appears to be built on BIOSTAR's BIWCL-PAT 3.5-inch single board computer, a sensible route that should keep long-term availability predictable for system builders.

What Operating Systems and Pricing Are Available?

BIOSTAR lists support for Windows 11 64-bit, Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 24H2 and Ubuntu 24.04 Linux, and a 90W power adapter is included. Pricing has not been announced. For more compact computers aimed at edge AI and automation, browse our mini PC coverage.
