The Finals PRIME TIME Update: Destruction and a Solo Mode
The Finals PRIME TIME update adds bending buildings, Blast Waves, a 12-player Solo Showdown mode and the Infiltrator playstyle on PC, PS5 and Xbox today.
Embark Studios just dropped the biggest overhaul in The Finals' history. The PRIME TIME update went live on October 20, 2026 across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox, and it rebuilds the game show shooter's signature destruction system from the ground up while adding a solo mode, a stealthy new playstyle and a live commentator who can shout out your name. If you bounced off The Finals a few seasons ago, this is the patch to come back for.
- Launch: live now on Steam, PS5 and Xbox as of October 20, 2026
- Destruction overhaul: buildings now hinge, sag, bend and deform, with new Blast Waves, debris piles and dynamic smoke and gas
- New mode: Solo Showdown (beta), a 12-player, three-round elimination tournament across 8 rotating mini-modes
- New Light playstyle: The Infiltrator, with True Sight, the Mimic Device and the Translocator
What Changed in The Finals Destruction System?
Destruction has always been the heart of The Finals, and PRIME TIME calls this the biggest destruction update since launch. Gradual Destruction is now on game-wide, so instead of chunks simply popping out, structures can hinge, sag, bend and deform, making every match's arena a little different. Suspended structures now hang from physics-enabled attachments and swing freely when you blow out their supports.
The new Blast Waves system is the showstopper. Explosions now push debris around, dent walls, snap trees and send objects flying, and Embark lists more than a dozen sources that trigger it, including the Breach Charge, C4, the RPG-7, frag grenades, explosive canisters and even the Orbital Laser and Meteor Shower events. Debris piles now build up as buildings crumble, and smoke and toxic gas clouds have been reworked to wrap around the environment and get briefly pushed back by explosions. Embark also upgraded the physics engine to handle the extra load.
Remastered Arenas and a Fresh Look
A new game-wide lighting system ties together major visual upgrades. Monaco gets reworked house interiors, penthouses, attics and redesigned areas with new cover and flanking routes. Seoul adds a new building, new routes and a new Cashout Station. Skyway Stadium gets a redesigned Mansion diorama and layout changes, while Las Vegas Stadium reworks its power positions and sight lines, and the fan-favorite Las Vegas Sandstorm variant returns. A launch playlist lets you play Cashout on all four refreshed arenas right away.
How Does Solo Showdown Work?
Solo queue players finally get a mode built for them. Solo Showdown drops 12 contestants into a tournament of three rounds; after each round the four players with the least cash are eliminated, and whoever holds the most cash at the end wins. Each round is pulled at random from eight mini-modes, including:
- Blast Off!: grenade launchers and a dash ability for high-velocity chaos
- Heavy Hitters: sledgehammers that knock you farther the lower your health
- Sniper Standoff: precision sniping with a grapple hook for repositioning
- One and Gunned: a single revolver bullet, with more earned through eliminations
Embark says a leaderboard will arrive shortly after the season starts.
Meet The Infiltrator and Dynamic Commentary
The Light class gets a new stealth specialization. True Sight reveals opponents through smoke, even cloaked or disguised ones. The Mimic Device lets you scan an object and disguise yourself as it, prop-hunt style, and the Translocator swaps your position with a marked object on demand.
Dynamic Commentary is the most ambitious addition. Caster Scotty can now call out contestants by name and react to big plays in real time, which Embark believes is a first for a live FPS match. It launches in beta with privacy built in: Anonymous Mode keeps your name off the air, and Streamer Mode skips lines that mention other players. Embark paired it with upgraded moderation tools for names and chat.
Rounding things out are a redesigned HUD with customizable quick settings, a new Sponsors journey, and a new battle pass where Premium holders can earn 1,650 Multibucks. Arena shooters on a roll this fall include Battlefield 6 Season 5, and you can find more in our gaming coverage.
