Battlefield 6 Season 5: Vegas Maps, Free Trial and Dates
Battlefield 6 Season 5, Siege of Vegas, is live with two new maps, four weapons and the Rapid Royale mode, plus a full game trial from October 15 to 19.
Battlefield 6 Season 5 has arrived, and it is heading to the desert. The new season, titled Siege of Vegas, started on October 13, 2026, and brings two launch maps, four new weapons, a faster battle royale mode and a free trial window for anyone who has been waiting to jump in. EA laid out the full roadmap on October 9, and it runs all the way into December.
- Season start: October 13, 2026, with Title Update 2.1.1.0.
- Launch maps: Vegas Strip and Area 51.
- New mode: Rapid Royale, with Trios and Solos.
- Full Game Trial: October 15 to 19.
What Is New in Battlefield 6 Season 5?
Start with the maps, because the theme is the star here. According to EA's roadmap:
- Vegas Strip is a city map built around casinos, streets and storm drains. That means tight interiors, long boulevards and a sneaky underground route, all in one place.
- Area 51 is a desert base with an underground facility. Yes, that Area 51. No, EA has not said what is in the basement. Hold that thought.
Four weapons arrive at launch: the Mk 24 assault rifle, the RSPR submachine gun, the Z84M light machine gun and the ELR-40 bolt-action sniper rifle. That is one new option for nearly every range, which should shake up loadouts nicely.
DSOGaming reports that the season launched alongside Title Update 2.1.1.0, and has published the full patch notes for anyone who wants the fine detail.
How Does Rapid Royale Work?
Rapid Royale is a new mode for REDSEC, the game's battle royale side. EA describes it as a quicker format with Trios and Solos matches, smaller player counts, high-value loot and a Ring of Fire. Eliminations earn redeploys, so playing aggressively is how you keep your squad in the fight.
It sounds built for the player who has forty minutes, not three hours. Competitive players get plenty as well: a new Ranked BR season, the REDSEC Open Series, and an Elite Series with cash prizes later in the season. Multiplayer is also getting Leaderboards.
One housekeeping note: EA says the Gauntlet mode left the game when Season 5 launched.
When Is the Battlefield 6 Free Trial?
EA's roadmap lists a Full Game Trial from October 15 to 19. DSOGaming reports the game will be free to play on Steam during those dates. EA notes that trial details vary by platform and points players to their retailer, so check your own store before clearing your weekend.
A five-day trial two days after a major content drop is smart timing. New players get the fresh maps on day one, and returning players get full lobbies.
Battlefield 6 Season 5 Roadmap: Key Dates
The season keeps going well past launch. Here is what EA has scheduled:
- This Halloween: the Convergence Event, a limited-time Dead Space crossover that begins when a Marker is found beneath Area 51. Told you to hold that thought.
- November 10: the Casino Heist Update, a limited-time event. An infantry-focused map called the European Casino arrives later in the season.
- December 8: the Frozen Aces Update, adding Platoons, a Server Browser, updated versions of Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City, new weapons and gear, and the B-81 Cavalry vehicle.
The Server Browser and Platoons are the quiet headline. Both are long-requested community features, and they are the kind of additions that help a shooter keep its regulars around for years.
Is Now a Good Time to Jump In?
If you were curious about Battlefield 6, this is about as good an entry point as a season gets: new maps, a shorter battle royale format and a free trial to test it all. The Dead Space crossover alone is the sort of gloriously odd idea I want to see in action.
Shooter fans have had a busy autumn, with Halo Campaign Evolved bringing four-player co-op to PS5 and the Arc Raiders Frozen Trail update both landing recently. More in our gaming coverage.
