Pragmata Is Finally Here: Capcom's 6-Year Sci-Fi Adventure Launches April 17
Capcom's long-awaited sci-fi action-adventure Pragmata launches April 17 on PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 — a week ahead of its original April 24 date.
Six Years in the Making
PRAGMATA — Capcom's lunar sci-fi action adventure first announced at the 2020 PlayStation 5 reveal showcase — is launching on April 17, 2026. Six years. Multiple delays. And now, arriving one week ahead of its original April 24 schedule, it is almost here.
For context: Pragmata began as a PS5 and PC exclusive set in a near-future, post-collapse vision of New York City. Over subsequent years, Capcom significantly expanded the scope and ambition of the project, adding Xbox Series X|S and — announced in December 2025 — Nintendo Switch 2 to the platform lineup. The early launch makes it one of the first major third-party action games on Nintendo's new hardware.
Hugh and Diana: A Duo Worth Waiting For
The core premise is among the most creatively distinct in recent memory. You play as Hugh, a spacefarer stranded on a lunar research station overtaken by IDUS, a hostile AI system that has assumed control of the station's robot population. Your partner is Diana, a sophisticated android who can hack into IDUS-controlled machines — disabling their armor and exposing weak points for Hugh to exploit with firearms and a jetpack-assisted mobility system.
The gameplay loop is genuinely compelling: Diana's electronic warfare capabilities feed directly into Hugh's combat flow. Her hacks create the openings that Hugh capitalizes on, building a rhythm of cooperation that Capcom describes as central to the moment-to-moment experience. Given the studio's pedigree across Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, and Resident Evil, the expectation that they will execute on this loop is well-founded.
Lunar Setting, Original IP
The lunar research station backdrop is doing real narrative and aesthetic work here. Isolation, a hostile AI, low-gravity traversal via jetpack, and a mystery to unravel across the station's compromised systems — Pragmata positions itself at the intersection of sci-fi thriller and action game in a way few titles attempt.
What makes it especially significant is that this is a fully original IP from one of the most franchise-driven major publishers in the industry. Capcom swinging for a new property at this scale and ambition is worth celebrating on its own terms.
A PC demo released in December 2025 gave players an early taste of Pragmata's systems and tone. If you missed it, the full experience is nine days away. The wait is almost over.
