PlayStation State of Play September 2026: 15 Games Dated

Two Showcases, Back to Back, and a Very Full Calendar

Sony ran two State of Play broadcasts back to back on September 3, 2026 — the main show followed immediately by State of Play Japan, hosted by Yuki Kaji. Between them they put release dates on roughly fifteen games, which is the useful kind of showcase: fewer teaser logos, more days you can circle.

The Autumn Run Is Genuinely Crowded

October is doing a lot of work. Ghost of Yotei's expansion opens the month on October 1, Crimson Desert's first story DLC "Charting the Unknown" follows on October 15 with ship exploration added, and Final Fantasy Resonance arrives October 22 — with a demo that went live the same day as the broadcast, which is the most confident move a publisher can make. Hunter's Moon, a first-person historical folk horror game, closes the month on October 26.

Wolverine's September 15 date is the near-term headline, though it is a confirmation rather than a reveal: Insomniac locked in that date back in February. What the show added was a final trailer and, more usefully, the reassurance that a date set seven months out held.

What Got Announced for 2027?

The back half of the slate is where the new names sit. Until Dawn 2 was the biggest surprise — AdHoc Studio, fresh off Dispatch, co-developing a sequel to a game that helped define its subgenre, arriving January 28, 2027. Metro 2039 follows on February 4 with PS5 Pro gameplay shown, Gundam Rogue Orbit on March 5, and Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance sometime in 2027 with new monsters and story detail revealed.

Maneater 2 was announced by Tripwire for 2027, Double Fine's Keeper is on PS5 now, and Konami showed trailers for Rev. NOiR and Rhapsody in Scarlet. Annapurna's Uncanyon rounds out the 2027 column. Square Enix also confirmed a Japan-only Final Fantasy 7 Remake collector's edition at around $500, which will test how many people import.

The Updates Worth Knowing About

Not everything was a new game. Gran Turismo 7 is getting a Spec IV update with new tracks and cars, which for a nine-year-old racer is a remarkable service record. Saros picks up an Overlord Rush mode and New Game+. Several PS Plus Classic titles were added. And in the category of things that will sell regardless of merit, GTA 6 custom DualSense controllers arrive in November, alongside a $180 Lego PlayStation set.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation got the closing slot with an extended look at its world, which is the right place for it. The trilogy's conclusion going multiplatform on day one — PS5, Xbox, Switch 2 and PC — is a meaningful shift from how the first two entries rolled out, and it is the detail with the longest tail. How This Show Compares to June's

June's State of Play leaned on reveals — God of War Laufey, Wolverine's date, a big spread of first looks. This one leaned on dates. Fifteen release windows in two broadcasts is a publisher signalling that its calendar is settled, and after a couple of years of shifting windows across the industry, that is worth something.
