Not every embedded project wants an Arm board and a vendor kernel. Sometimes what you need is boring x86 that will run the Windows application the plant already depends on, in a box with no moving parts, for the next seven years. That is the brief the Jetway PIC-TWL1 is written against — a fanless Pico-ITX motherboard detailed on August 25, 2026 around Intel's N150 Twin Lake processor.

What Pico-ITX Buys You Over a Mini PC
Pico-ITX is 100 x 72mm — smaller than a 3.5-inch drive bay and roughly the footprint of a credit card and a half. The point is not raw smallness for its own sake but that the board is a component rather than a product: it mounts inside somebody else's enclosure, wired to somebody else's I/O, without the plastic shell and consumer ports a finished mini PC drags along.

Alongside two USB 3.2 Gen2 ports at 10 Gbps and two gigabit Ethernet jacks, the PIC-TWL1 carries two RS-232/422/485 serial ports, four more USB 2.0 ports on internal headers, GPIO headers, an RTC with battery, and a UEFI BIOS with Wake-on-LAN and a watchdog timer. Serial and a watchdog are the tell — this board expects to talk to machinery and to reboot itself when something hangs at 3am.
Is the N150 Enough Compute in 2026?
For this job, generally yes. Twin Lake is not a performance part and Jetway is not pretending otherwise; the 6W TDP is what allows the fanless design and the wide temperature range, and those two properties are worth more in a sealed cabinet than another few hundred MHz. Four cores at up to 3.6 GHz with 32GB of DDR5 behind them will comfortably run an HMI, a PLC gateway, a digital signage endpoint or a camera front-end.
Jetway lists facial recognition among the target applications, which is realistic for classical pipelines running on the CPU and iGPU — this board has no NPU, so heavier inference belongs on an accelerator or a different platform entirely. If the workload needs real TOPS, an Arm module with a dedicated NPU is the better shape.
Software and Availability
Jetway supports Windows 11 64-bit and Linux, and an M.2 E-Key 2230 socket takes an optional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module. Sample units are listed at $315 through the company's eShop, with volume pricing presumably lower.
