Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV is here, and Part 1 of the free update brings a fun mix of cars, from a Ferrari supercar to a classic Citroën 2CV. According to the PlayStation Blog, the update goes live October 14 at 11:00 pm PDT (October 15 at 7:00 am BST), adding six new cars, the series debut of the Sportsland SUGO circuit, and a batch of new events and features. Sony also used the occasion to reveal a Gran Turismo Limited Edition DualSense controller celebrating 30 years of the series.

  • Release: free for all players from October 14 at 11:00 pm PDT; an internet connection is required.
  • New content: 6 new cars, the Sportsland SUGO track, 6 new World Circuit events, Scapes locations, Car Viewer features and Experience mode.
  • Controller: the Gran Turismo Limited Edition DualSense costs $84.99, €84.99 or £74.99, with pre-orders from October 22.
  • Launch date: the controller ships worldwide on December 10 in limited quantities.

What Cars Are in Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV Part 1?

The six additions span decades and driving styles:

  • Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo: a concept car with a teardrop cockpit and a halo-shaped taillight that doubles as an air outlet.
  • Ferrari F355 Berlinetta '94: the Pininfarina-styled classic, found in the Used Car dealership.
  • Honda Civic Si Group A '87: based on the Mugen Motul Civic that won its class in the 1987 All-Japan Touring Car Championship.
  • Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo '26: a four-rotor racing concept inspired by the Le Mans-winning 787B.
  • Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line '23: yes, a family minivan, and we love it for that.
  • Citroën 2CV 6 Charleston '86: the charming French classic, also in Used Cars.

That lineup is peak Gran Turismo. Where else can you go from a rotary-powered race car to a minivan to a 2CV in one update?

What Is Sportsland SUGO?

Sportsland SUGO is a real circuit in Murata, Japan, and this is its first appearance in a Gran Turismo game. Racinggames.gg describes the main circuit as about 2.3 miles long. The hilly, technical layout should make a great home for the new World Circuit events, and it adds another Japanese track to a game that already celebrates the country's car culture.

What Else Is New in the Spec IV Update?

Beyond cars and the track, Part 1 adds new Sunday Cup events, a Vision Gran Turismo Trophy race at Spa-Francorchamps, new Scapes photo locations, expanded Car Viewer features and an Experience mode. Racinggames.gg also reports a Car Concierge service for ordering used and Legend cars, a Vintage section, and a higher Collector Level cap.

According to Racinggames.gg, Spec IV Part 2 is due in December with the Autumn Ring circuit and six more cars. Sony's own post focuses on Part 1, so treat the Part 2 details as reported rather than confirmed for now.

How Much Is the Gran Turismo DualSense Controller?

The Gran Turismo Limited Edition DualSense features racing stripes, motorsport-inspired graphics and a textured carbon-fibre-style front plate, according to the PlayStation Blog and VGC. Pricing is $84.99 in the US, €84.99 in Europe, £74.99 in the UK and ¥12,480 in Japan. Pre-orders open October 22 at 10:00 am local time through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers, and it launches globally on December 10 in limited quantities. If you collect special editions, it joins a busy year that also included the Lisa limited edition DualSense.

Thirty years in, Gran Turismo is still finding new ways to celebrate car culture, and a free update this generous is a great excuse to get back on track. For more racing and console news, visit our gaming section.
