GeForce NOW Upgrades VR Streaming to 90fps and Adds GOG Library Syncing — Making Cloud Gaming More Versatile Than Ever
NVIDIA announces 90fps VR streaming for Ultimate members on Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest starting March 19, plus GOG account linking and subscription game labels.
VR Cloud Gaming Gets a Major Smoothness Upgrade
NVIDIA used GDC 2026 to announce a significant upgrade to GeForce NOW's VR capabilities: starting March 19, Ultimate tier subscribers will be able to stream games to VR headsets at 90 frames per second, up from the previous 60fps cap. The upgrade applies to supported devices including Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest headsets, and it addresses one of the most common complaints about cloud-streamed VR — motion smoothness.
The jump from 60fps to 90fps might sound incremental on paper, but in VR it's transformative. At 60fps, fast head movements and dynamic scenes can feel noticeably choppy, and some users experience motion discomfort. At 90fps, the experience approaches the native refresh rate of most VR displays, dramatically improving the sense of presence and reducing latency-related nausea.
GOG Integration and Subscription Labels
Alongside the VR upgrade, NVIDIA is expanding GeForce NOW's platform integrations. GOG account linking joins the existing Steam and Epic Games Store connections, allowing users to sync their GOG library and stream DRM-free games through NVIDIA's cloud infrastructure. For GOG loyalists who've built up substantial libraries, this eliminates the need to choose between their preferred storefront and cloud gaming access.
NVIDIA also introduced in-app labels that show which games in a user's library are available through Xbox Game Pass and Ubisoft+ subscriptions. It's a small quality-of-life feature, but it solves a genuine pain point — subscribers often don't realize which cloud-eligible games they already have access to through existing subscriptions.
Cloud Gaming's Expanding Reach
These updates reflect GeForce NOW's evolution from a simple game streaming service into a comprehensive cloud gaming platform. By supporting VR headsets, multiple storefronts, and subscription services, NVIDIA is positioning GeForce NOW as the universal access layer for PC gaming — regardless of what hardware you own or where you bought your games.
The 90fps VR upgrade is exclusively available on the Ultimate Platinum tier, which already supports up to 4K at 120fps for traditional displays with RTX ray tracing enabled. For VR enthusiasts who want high-end PC gaming without a high-end PC, that combination is increasingly difficult to ignore.
