Coinbase Q3 2026 Earnings: Prediction Markets Pass $200M
Coinbase Q3 2026 earnings: $719M net income, $1.2B revenue, prediction markets above $200M annualized and record $22B average USDC in its products.
Coinbase is back in the black. The exchange reported third-quarter 2026 results on October 29, posting $719 million in net income, or $2.51 per diluted share, ending a two-quarter losing streak. Revenue held steady at about $1.2 billion in a quiet crypto market, but the real story is under the hood: newer business lines are growing fast enough to change how this stock should be read.
- Net income: $719 million ($2.51 per share); adjusted net income of $78 million excluding investment gains
- Revenue: about $1.22 billion, flat from Q2; transaction revenue $590 million
- Subscription and services: $570 million, up 3% and about 49% of net revenue
- Prediction markets: above $200 million in annualized revenue
What Drove Coinbase's Q3 2026 Earnings?
Let's be straight about the headline number. As Decrypt reported, about $715 million of the profit came from gains on crypto Coinbase holds as an investment, as prices rebounded in September. Strip out those gains and adjusted net income was $78 million. Still, analysts had expected a loss of 15 cents per share, according to Zacks figures cited by Decrypt, so even the adjusted picture came in ahead.
The operating side held up in a tough tape. Coinbase's own earnings deck says total market spot and derivatives volumes fell 6% and 11% quarter over quarter, and crypto volatility hit multi-year lows. Despite that, transaction revenue slipped only 1% to $590 million, beating expectations, and Coinbase grew its share of global crypto trading volume for a fourth straight quarter, to 10.7% per Decrypt. Adjusted expenses also came in below the company's own outlook.
How Big Are Coinbase's Prediction Markets Now?
This is the part I would circle. Coinbase says prediction markets crossed $200 million in annualized revenue, compounding 82% per quarter since launch, and Decrypt reports daily traders grew more than 60% from Q2. CEO Brian Armstrong said the product kept growing even through slower sports months. For a product this young, that is one of the fastest ramps in the company's history.
Why Stablecoin Revenue Is the Steady Engine
Subscription and services revenue rose 3% to $570 million, with $307 million from stablecoins, per Decrypt. Average USDC held in Coinbase products hit a record $22 billion, and paid Coinbase One subscribers reached an all-time high, up 24% year over year. That recurring revenue now makes up roughly half of net revenue, which smooths out the boom-and-bust trading cycle that used to define this stock. It also explains moves like the Citi and Coinbase stablecoin payments partnership.
What It Means for Investors
Revenue is down 35% from a year ago, so this is not a growth-at-all-costs quarter. But the mix is healthier: steady stablecoin income, a breakout prediction-markets product, market-share gains and $8.6 billion in cash and equivalents. If you are tracking fintech earnings this season, compare it with SoFi's record-member quarter. As always, this is analysis, not advice. More earnings breakdowns are in our stock trading coverage.
