Console players, prepare to crumple some bumpers. BeamNG.drive, the soft-body physics driving sandbox that has been a PC favorite for more than a decade, launches in Early Access on PS5 on October 19, 2026. The date was confirmed on September 24, and the console version arrives alongside a meaty PC update that adds local split-screen for up to four players.

  • Release: PS5 Early Access on October 19, 2026, alongside PC update 0.40
  • Content: 12 open-world maps, career mode and photo mode
  • Multiplayer: local split-screen for 1-4 players; online is still in development
  • Upscaling: FSR 3 on the base PS5 and PSSR on the PS5 Pro

What Is BeamNG.drive?

BeamNG.drive has been in Early Access on PC since May 2015, and its secret sauce is the physics. Every vehicle is simulated as a flexible structure rather than a rigid box, so metal bends, frames twist and suspension behaves like the real thing. Crashes are the famous part, but the same simulation makes ordinary driving feel wonderfully weighty. That depth is why it has stayed one of the most-watched driving games on the internet.

What's in the BeamNG.drive PS5 Version?

According to Gematsu, the PS5 release ships with 12 open-world maps and the game's career mode, which mixes motorsport events, delivery jobs and police chases. Photo mode is included too, and so is a new vehicle arriving with update 0.40.

The standout addition is split-screen. Up to four players can share one screen locally, and it is coming to PC at the same time. For a physics sandbox built around chaos, couch co-op is a perfect fit. On the technical side, the base PS5 uses AMD's FSR 3 upscaling, while the PS5 Pro uses Sony's PSSR.

What's Not There Yet

This is an Early Access release, and the team is upfront about it. There is no mod support at launch, though the developers have not ruled out console mods later. Online multiplayer is not available on either platform yet but is being worked on. Steering wheel support and pricing had not been confirmed at the time of writing. The good news is that PS5 will receive updates at the same time as PC, so console players will not be stuck on an older build.

Is BeamNG.drive Worth Watching on PS5?

If you have ever watched a BeamNG crash compilation and wished you could try it without a gaming PC, October 19 is your day. The Drive calls it a car physics playground, and that is exactly the appeal: few games let you understand why a car behaves the way it does as clearly as this one.
