Texas Instruments Q3 2026 Earnings: Revenue Up 28% to $6.06B
Texas Instruments Q3 2026 earnings beat forecasts: revenue rose 28% to $6.06 billion, EPS hit $2.62 and analog sales climbed 32% year over year.
Chip stocks have mostly been an AI accelerator story this year, but Texas Instruments just reminded everyone that the humble analog chip is having a great run too. In its third-quarter report filed October 21, 2026, TI posted revenue of $6.06 billion, up 28% from a year ago, and earnings per share of $2.62. Shacknews reported that both numbers topped Wall Street's expectations of $5.93 billion and $2.40.
- Revenue: $6,055 million, up 28% year over year and 11% from the prior quarter
- Profit: operating profit up 73% to $2,874 million; net income up 78% to $2,425 million; EPS $2.62 versus $1.48
- Analog: revenue up 32% to $4,911 million, with Embedded Processing up 21% to $858 million
- Outlook: fourth-quarter revenue of $5.80 billion to $6.30 billion and EPS of $2.45 to $2.79
What Drove Texas Instruments' Q3 Earnings Beat?
CEO Haviv Ilan credited "continued broad growth in industrial, automotive and data center," according to the company's release. That breadth is the encouraging part. Analog chips handle power management and convert real-world signals, like temperature, sound and voltage, into data a processor can use, so they show up in factory equipment, cars and server racks alike. When all three markets grow at once, TI's huge catalog of parts benefits across the board.
The segment numbers back that up. Analog revenue jumped 32% and its operating profit rose 69% to $2,505 million. Embedded Processing, TI's microcontroller and processor business, grew 21% while its operating profit more than doubled, up 110% to $227 million. Only the small Other segment slipped, down 6% to $286 million.
How Strong Is TI's Cash Flow?
This is where TI's long-term factory strategy shows up. The company has spent years building 300mm wafer fabs, which produce more chips per wafer at lower cost. Ilan said trailing 12-month cash flow from operations of $9.9 billion "again underscored the strength of our business model," and highlighted the benefit of 300mm production.
- Operating cash flow: $9.9 billion over 12 months, up 43%
- Free cash flow: $8.4 billion over 12 months, up 249%, or 40.6% of revenue versus 14.0% a year earlier
- Investment: $4.0 billion in R&D and SG&A plus $2.6 billion in capital spending over 12 months
- Shareholder returns: $5.8 billion over 12 months, including $5,174 million in dividends and $636 million in buybacks
Operating cash flow rose by about $3 billion over the past year, and with 12-month capital spending at $2.6 billion, free cash flow more than tripled. TI defines free cash flow as operating cash flow minus capex, plus CHIPS Act incentive proceeds.
What Does TI's Q4 Guidance Mean for Investors?
Guidance of $5.80 billion to $6.30 billion puts the midpoint at $6.05 billion, roughly flat with Q3, which is normal for TI since the fourth quarter is often seasonally softer. EPS guidance of $2.45 to $2.79 brackets this quarter's result. In plain terms, management expects to hold onto most of this year's gains rather than give them back.
