Buckle up, speed freaks. Star Wars: Galactic Racer's review embargo lifted on October 2, 2026, and critics are having a blast. - Release date: October 6, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

What Are the Star Wars Galactic Racer Review Scores?
The spread is impressively tight at the top end. Here is the roundup PureXbox compiled:
- VGC: 5/5
- Giant Bomb: 10/10
- GameSpot: 9/10
- Push Square: 9/10
- Game Informer: 8.5/10
- IGN: 8/10

GamesRadar's own headline notes that the score makes it one of the best-rated Star Wars games ever, ahead of every Battlefront title. Not bad for a studio's first game.
What Kind of Racer Is Galactic Racer?
Think less sim, more Burnout in a galaxy far, far away. VGC calls it a spiritual successor to PS2-era arcade racers, praising crunchy crash mechanics, blistering speed and sound design that leans into the classic Star Wars audio library. You pick from three main vehicle classes, each with its own handling: landspeeders, speeder bikes and skim speeders. Podracers appear too.
The campaign is a roguelite. Game Informer explains that if you rack up too many losses, you get dropped from the tournament, so every race carries real stakes. Between events, you upgrade your ride with new engines and stat boosts for afterburners, drifting and battery, and VGC highlights a deep customization system covering body parts, cosmetics, abilities and stats. Game Informer estimates 20-plus hours of campaign play.
Beyond the campaign, there is an Arcade mode with time trials, a Scenario mode with pre-built character campaigns, and multiplayer with XP progression and cosmetic unlocks.
Is Galactic Racer Worth Playing at Launch?
Reviewers did flag a few speed bumps. VGC and IGN would like more planets, Game Informer found the mandatory podracer events less fun than the other vehicles, and VGC felt Arcade mode could make more of the license. Those read like wishlist items for future updates rather than deal-breakers, and the core racing earns near-universal praise.
If you have been waiting for a great arcade racer, this looks like the one. While you wait, catch up on the Star Wars Zero Company preview and the rest of our gaming coverage.
