Minecraft Sift: When the New Dimension Reaches Each Game
Minecraft’s Sift arrives in Dungeons II on September 29 and is planned for Java and Bedrock in 2027. Here is what the new dimension reveal confirms.
Minecraft's Sift now has two destinations on the calendar. At the September 26 Minecraft Live event, Mojang confirmed that the dimension featured in Minecraft Dungeons II is also planned for Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition in 2027. Players get their first full visit through Dungeons II on September 29.
- The Sift is part of Dungeons II's September 29 launch.
- Its arrival in Java and Bedrock is planned for 2027.
- Revealed areas include Meadows and Carapace.
- Mojang has not yet detailed how players will enter it in the main game.
What makes Minecraft's Sift different?
Xbox Wire's event report describes a colorful realm with unfamiliar creatures, environmental hazards and shifting tides that affect characters. The announcement establishes the broad direction while leaving other areas for players to discover. It also keeps the main game's implementation distinct from the version in Dungeons II.
That distinction is the important part for builders. Seeing a creature or landscape in the action RPG gives an early impression of the setting; it does not confirm every mechanic that will later appear in Java or Bedrock. The 2027 plan is a development announcement, not an update available to install today.
How does Dungeons II let players explore it?
In the September 26 official Xbox podcast, design director Laura de Llorens discusses the sequel's interconnected world and the addition of jumping. She explains that vertical movement creates room for hidden spaces and exploration. The interview also describes quests, fast travel and expanded equipment systems.
Our take is that a connected landscape makes a new dimension more interesting to investigate. Instead of thinking only about the next mission screen, players can pay attention to how places connect and where a side route might lead. Whether that remains enjoyable over a full campaign is a question for actual play, not a conclusion from a preview.
Which release should players watch for?
The official product page confirms Dungeons II for September 29 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. That is the near-term game release. The separate Java and Bedrock destination has a year attached, with more details still to come.
This advances the story beyond the March Minecraft Live sequel reveal. For our gaming coverage, the new September news is the dimension's planned journey into the main game, alongside a closer look at the sequel's exploration. There is plenty to be curious about without filling the unrevealed gaps with guesses.
