Two Showcases, Two Weeks Apart

September just got a schedule. On September 1, 2026, both Konami and Capcom announced digital showcases, and between them they cover most of what Japanese publishing has coming this autumn.

Konami goes first with Press Start on Thursday, September 3 at 8am PT / 11am ET, streaming on the company's YouTube and Twitch channels. Capcom follows on September 16 at 7am PT / 10am ET with a 40-minute Spotlight ahead of Tokyo Game Show, which runs September 17 to 21 in Chiba.

  • Konami Press Start, September 3 — new gameplay and developer messages for Silent Hill: Townfall, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse and the action RPG Rev. Noir
  • Silent Hill: Townfall releases September 24, with Castlevania: Belmont's Curse following on October 15
  • Capcom Spotlight, September 16 — 40 minutes covering six titles ahead of TGS 2026
  • Capcom's lineup — Dragon's Dogma II: Dark Arisen, Mega Man: Dual Override, the Monster Hunter Wilds expansion Ascendance, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Pragmata and Street Fighter 6

What Is Konami Actually Showing?

Press Start is unusually well-timed. Silent Hill: Townfall is three weeks from release when the stream airs, which puts it in the window where a showcase is about showing rather than teasing — expect substantial gameplay rather than a mood piece. Belmont's Curse is six weeks out and in a similar position.

Rev. Noir is the wildcard. It is an action RPG without a release date, which usually means the showcase is where it gets one. Konami has confirmed the presentation will include developer video messages alongside the footage, a format that tends to produce more concrete detail than a pure trailer reel.

Worth noting for anyone about to get their hopes up: Bloober Team's separate Silent Hill remake is not part of this showcase and remains in its own production track. Two Silent Hill projects running in parallel is a good problem for the series to have, but only one of them is on Thursday's bill.

Why Capcom's Lineup Is a Switch 2 Story

Capcom's six-game slate reads as a Nintendo lineup almost by accident. Every title except Mega Man: Dual Override is either already on Switch 2 or heading there, and Dual Override is the one confirmed for the original Switch as well.

That is a meaningful shift in what a Capcom showcase means. Historically these presentations sorted games by platform generation; this one sorts them by which Switch 2 build is furthest along. Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Pragmata are the two most likely to carry the presentation — Pragmata after its launch earlier this year, which we covered when Capcom's sci-fi epic finally arrived.

The Monster Hunter Wilds expansion is the commercial centrepiece regardless. Ascendance is the kind of release that reorganises a quarter's sales charts, and a 40-minute slot with six games means it is getting real time rather than a sizzle cut.

Capcom's last Spotlight set a decent bar — the March 2026 presentation delivered concrete dates rather than vague windows, which is the version of these events worth setting an alarm for.

Getting the Most Out of Showcase Season

Both streams are free, both are archived immediately afterwards, and neither requires a pre-registration. If you are picking one, Press Start is the better bet for release-date news given how close Townfall and Belmont's Curse are to shipping. The Capcom Spotlight is the better bet for scale.

Our gaming coverage will pick up whatever lands from both, including the Switch 2 side — where free upgrades like The Witcher 3 Remastered's September 29 release have been quietly stacking up all season.
