Forza Horizon 6 finally has a PlayStation 5 release date, and it is a good one: January 26, 2027. Playground Games confirmed the news on October 8, 2026, alongside the first Premium Expansion and a free content update for everyone. PS5 players who grab the Premium Edition can hit the open roads of Japan five days early, on January 21, the same day Expansion 1 lands on every platform. Start your engines, PlayStation crew.

  • PS5 launch: Standard and Deluxe Editions release January 26, 2027; Premium Edition early access starts January 21, 2027.
  • Expansion 1: the first Premium Expansion launches on all platforms on January 21, 2027; Expansion 2 is coming later.
  • Crossplay: full crossplay and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions, plus cross-platform user-created content from day one.
  • Extras: a pre-tuned Ferrari J50 pre-order bonus, a physical PS5 disc, and a free content update for all players at launch.

When Does Forza Horizon 6 Come Out on PS5?

Mark the calendar for January 26, 2027 if you are buying the Standard or Deluxe Edition. Premium Edition owners, and anyone who adds the Premium Upgrade, get early access from January 21, 2027. Pre-orders are open now on the PlayStation Store, and a physical disc will be sold at supporting retailers, which is great news for collectors who like a case on the shelf.

The PS5 version is being built by Panic Button in close collaboration with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios. Panic Button has a strong track record with high-profile ports, so the game is in experienced hands.

Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Performance Modes

According to the official Forza announcement, base PS5 owners can choose between a 4K Quality mode at 30fps and a Performance mode at 60fps. If you want the most responsive handling for tight drifts through Tokyo traffic, Performance mode is the one to pick, while Quality mode shows off the scenery when you are cruising toward Mount Fuji.

What Is in Expansion 1?

Playground has not named or detailed the first Premium Expansion yet, but we know it launches on all platforms on January 21, 2027. It is included in the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade and the Expansions Bundle, and it can also be bought separately. Expansion 2 is confirmed for a later date. A free content update for all players arrives alongside the PS5 launch, with more details promised closer to release.

Crossplay Means One Big Festival

The best part of the PS5 announcement may be the community side. Crossplay and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions mean PS5 newcomers drop straight into the same festival as everyone who has been racing since the May 19 Tokyo launch with 550+ cars. User-created content, from liveries to event blueprints, is shared across platforms from day one, so there will be months of community creations waiting.

Is It Worth Waiting for the PS5 Version?

If PlayStation is your home console, absolutely. You get the full Japan map, a free update, crossplay with an established player base, and the first expansion on the same schedule as everyone else if you go Premium. Pre-ordering now also locks in the Ferrari J50. For more racing and release news, keep an eye on our gaming coverage.
