Flameborn, the gates are finally open. Keen Games' voxel survival RPG Enshrouded left Early Access with its 1.0 release on October 15, launching on PC and debuting on PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro. After more than two years and eight major updates, the full release completes the map of Embervale, concludes the main story and adds a pile of systems that builders and explorers have been waiting for.

  • Release: October 15, 2026, on PC and PS5, with PS5 Pro support; the Xbox Series X and S version is planned for spring 2027
  • New region: Cinder's Cradle, a lava wasteland with floating islands overhead, plus two new Hollow Halls
  • Progression: player level cap raised to 50 and gear upgradable to level 55
  • Early Access owners: PC players do not need to buy the game again, and old saves carry over

What's New in Enshrouded 1.0?

The headline is a complete map. North of the Veilwater Basin, players can now explore Cinder's Cradle, a region with two faces. Below, lava flows through a barren wasteland strewn with mysterious ruins. Above it, the Ancients have lifted the earth into a realm of floating islands filled with unusual fauna, intricate architecture and fierce guardians. Two new Hollow Halls open in the Albaneve Summits and the Veilwater Basin (Keen's advice: bring your snorkel), and the Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes all stretch toward the world's edges.

The main quest also reaches its conclusion, finally revealing the mystery behind the Ancients and the Shroud. Keen says the story is concluded "for now," with the survivors of Embervale gaining a new sense of hope to rebuild the realm. Some long-locked doors in earlier biomes finally open along the way, so the players who spent years searching for hidden entrances get their payoff.

Sparkworks Turns Your Base Into a Game

Building has always been Enshrouded's secret weapon, and Sparkworks takes it further. The new logic system lets players create their own gameplay inside their worlds, from simple light switches to trap-filled dungeons, puzzles and even enemy encounters. Keen suggests parkour courses, battle arenas and escape rooms. Expect the community to go wild with this one.

How Does Enshrouded Look and Sound Now?

A new "brick renderer" shows far more detail for terrain and voxel buildings at a distance, so that castle you spent a weekend on no longer melts into blocks from across the valley. Each biome gets its own lighting, air moisture and sky atmosphere. Keen also says the game now runs well with less memory while looking better, with improved point light shadows and dynamic global illumination.

Lore fans get a lovely touch: every note, letter and book in the world is now fully voiced in English, German and Mandarin Chinese, and you can queue notes into a playlist and listen like an audiobook while you explore. Main crafting survivors and major quest-givers are voiced too.

Is Enshrouded Cross-Platform?

Not at launch. Keen's FAQ says cross-platform play is being worked on but has no estimate yet. Early Access PC players also get three exclusive decorative props, including a statue over four meters tall, and they can place them in friends' worlds too.

For a studio that started small and grew a survival hit through two years of community feedback, 1.0 is a satisfying finish line, and the console debut should bring a big new wave of Flameborn. For more survival and open-world launches like Subnautica 2's Early Access debut, visit our gaming hub.
