One of the most beloved musou games of the PS2 era is back. Koei Tecmo and Omega Force released Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered on October 1, 2026, rebuilding the 2001 classic for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S and Steam. If you spent your childhood mowing down armies as Lu Bu, this one is for you.

  • Release date: October 1, 2026, on PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S and Steam.
  • Roster: over 40 officers from the original, plus Ziluan from Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
  • New mechanics: Evasion, Perfect Power Guard and a Weapon Fusion crafting system.
  • Try first: a free demo is available now on every platform.

What's in Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered?

The Complete Edition bundles the original game with its Xtreme Legends expansion, so you get the full package in one place. According to Koei Tecmo's official site, the remaster includes over 40 officers from the original game and adds Ziluan, the hero of last year's Dynasty Warriors: Origins, as a guest. Nintendo Everything reports that the game was rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, which shows in the battlefield lighting and character detail.

Musou Mode returns with new scenarios you unlock by meeting battle conditions, giving veterans fresh reasons to replay the Three Kingdoms campaigns.

What Are the New Combat Features?

The headline additions modernize the fighting without changing its soul:

  • Evasion: a quick dodge to slip out of tight spots in a crowd.
  • Perfect Power Guard: a well-timed block that rewards precision.
  • Weapon Fusion: a crafting system for building custom weapons.
  • Normal and Classic settings: switch between modern handling and the original feel.

That Classic toggle is a smart touch. Purists can play it like 2001, while newcomers get the smoother controls they expect from a modern action game.

Does Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered Have Co-op?

Yes, and that is a big deal. Nintendo Everything reports that the original two-player split-screen returns across Musou, Free and VS modes. Couch co-op was a huge part of the PS2 experience, and it is great to see it preserved rather than swapped for online-only play.

Which Modes Can You Play?

Koei Tecmo lists a full lineup:

  • Musou Mode: the story campaigns, now with new scenarios.
  • Free Mode: replay any battle with any officer.
  • Challenge Mode: Endurance, Time Attack and Assault.
  • VS Mode: eight stages with special rules for head-to-head play.
  • Camp: prepare and customize between battles.

Is the Dynasty Warriors 3 Remaster Worth It?

If you have nostalgia for the original, the combination of a full roster, both campaigns and restored split-screen makes this an easy pick. If you are new to the series, the free demo is the perfect test drive. It is a strong year for remasters, following Tales of Berseria Remastered. More launches await in our gaming coverage.
